Tag Rugby

For those who are not fully aware of the game of TAG Rugby, it is played like this:

Referees

Aggressive behavior or play should not be allowed, people and ladies in particular don’t play tag to be injured, the most important responsibility is to get all players off the field in one piece, therefore show a yellow card early to any dangerous player. If players want aggression they should come back in September and play full contact rugby. If a player strikes an opponent, red card. If there is any collision with a lady, the lady’s team should receive a penalty, even if it is an accident a yellow card should be considered for the offending male just to make sure he will be a bit more careful the next time. Don’t be afraid to blow your whistle for foul play, we want everyone to enjoy themselves and get people off the pitch safely every night.
If there is abuse coming from the sideline, it is the captains responsibility to calm down sideline, if persistent team can be thrown out. If abuse/advice coming from pitch referee can award penalty against offending player or get player replaced. No one referees to listen to abuse. The referees make the odd mistake but only have one pair of eyes, players cannot abuse refs.
Protect the players.
Use your discretion.

The Ball must be Turned Over (Penalty) for the following offences:
Diving on the Ball/Ground, this includes diving to score a try.
Hand offs/Obstructing defenders tagging.
Kicking the ball unless it is in the sixth phase ie after the fifth tag one kick allowed.
Obstructing Tags.
Abusing Referee.
No Spinning out of tackle.
If ball goes out of play or player runs out with ball.
Tagging a player if only wearing one tag.
No straight running, players run at spaces not faces.
Knock ons, referee should play advantage if possible.
If a male player crosses the try line and/or comes back onto the field, then passes to a female to score, this counts as a tag not a try!!!
Since there is no dead ball line ball cannot be kicked across the line for players to ground and score try, ball should be carried across the line and grounded.

Tags
2 Tags should be worn at all times, you cannot tag a player unless wearing both.
Tshirts must be tucked inside shorts.
Shorts must be worn.
Attacking team allowed 5 tags, changeover on the sixth tag.
If a player is involved in play without both tags referee should be bring back play to where offending player got involved in play.
On first tag ball can be tapped of players foot to restart game this player cannot score directly, for all remaining tags ball is to be played through their legs.
Team without ball to be five yards back from team with ball for restarts.
1st defender must stand 1 metre back from player who was tagged and cannot move forward until scrum half handles the ball.
The team that scores a try receives kick off.
Ball to be passed backwards

General
Games to be 40 minutes, 20 per half
Gents score 1 point for a try, Ladies score 3 for a try
If a player is tagged at the same time as passing the ball, advantage should be given to the attacking team

TAG Rugby is a very fast growing, non contact sport, with teams consisting of 12 male & female players. Seven players are on the field at any one time - three of them must be female. The game is played on an area ½ the size of a normal rugby pitch with participants wearing a belt with two tags attached to shorts with a Velcro strip. To tackle a person and force the turnover of the ball to the opposing team one must detach a tag from the attacking player in possession of the ball.
