The Dog Rough Match Report
" Read on for the Westport view of the match "
No first's match this weekend ^th Feb
Friday 04th February 2011 Junior Division 2B
Team 1 Score Score Team 2 Venue
OLBC 7 7 Westport OLBC
Westport 31 Corrib 14
On Sunday 15th January both first and second teams were back in action, after a protracted break due to bad weather. Westport's first team played old rivals Corrib at home and the contest did not disapoint.
Westport although a little ring rusty showed their potential to improve match after match and put Corrib to bed without to much difficulty. The usual handbags at ten paces surfaced on a couple of occasionsn but quick refereeing and two yellow cards put a stop to this particular gallop. A good match well won.
Westport 25 Galwegians 5
Elated, yet a little stiff and sore Westport's 2nd team took no prisoners and consigned a fancied Galwegians to second place, in a spirited match in Carrowholly. For a team that has had little enough match rugby this season they put up a very creditable performance and must be fancied to do well this season based on todays performance

Cawley Cup match
Westport are out of the Cawley Cup in the second round ,after a disapointing 23 point to 3 defeat by OLBC on Saturday .

14/11/10
A pleasant change of direction for the Westport teams, when they both played well in their respective matches this weekend. Both Loughrea who fell victim to the firsts on Saturday ( I do wish they would stop moving the match days around ,or at least make changes more widely known ) and OLBC who drew with Westport's second team 12 points to 12 in an entertaining match on Sunday.

Sat. 9th Oct. OLBC 25 Westport 15
Westport suffered it's first defeat of this season when it went down 25 points to 15 at Carrowholly last Saturday to a strong OLBC side. The first half had OLBC very much in the driving seat and the combination of a big strong pack and commited attack had most of the play in Westport's half of the pitch.
The home team rallied in the second half and showed in fits and starts that it could pull it's way clear from the half time visitors score of 15 points to 3 . The set scrums improved and generally the tempo of play switched towards Westport especially in the last twenty minutes when the home team were banging on the door for another score.
This was not to be and OLBC headed up the pitch and after a tussle touched down for their final try to put their winners imprimatur on the game.
No match next weekend for the Westport team unless somthing turns up in the intrim.

Westport v Galwegians Sunday 26th Oct
Westport 31 Galwegians 8
A lovely day for an early season match and a lovely result for the home team, as Westport took five trys( plus the important bonus point) against Galwegians, who managed an unconverted try and a penalty in reply.
Not a classic encounter as both teams were a little ring rusty but the result bodes well for the future matches to come
Eoin Joyce and Lyndon played thier usual exciting game and it was a pleasure to note the the strong defensive action that this team is famed for, was well in evidence during the contest.
Ballinrobe away next Sunday ( Sligo 107 - Ballinrobe 0 last Sunday. Ouch)
